2009 Minnesota Twins Roster

The Twins managed to stay in the playoff hunt all season, even with sub-.500 play, as the American League Central was truly baseball's weakest division. A fantastic end of the season run of 17-4 caused a 163rd game tiebreaker for the second season in the row, with the Twins defeating the Detroit Tigers and moving into Championship play. Who will ever forget nearly 200,000 screaming fans over the last four games! Sadly, the Twins post-season came to a quick winless end as the New York Yankees homered and took advantage of miscues and misplays. 2009 was a total season of ups-and-downs with offense, starters and the bullpen alternating highpoints and lowpoints. Some late season free agent acquisitions bolstered the team. Joe Nathan, Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau represented the Twins in the All-Star Game, Mauer won his third batting title, was named MVP and received his second Gold Glove, and the Countdown to Outdoor Baseball reached an end.
