2005 Minnesota Twins Roster
Competition heightened in the Central Division and the Minnesota Twins fell to second place as the Chicago White Sox stormed out the gate and held a lead all season. This was accomplished despite the best efforts of what was becoming another regular line-up of potential superstars. If there was a fault, runners were left on base one too many times and pitchers were forced to throw tight, low-hit games. Johan Santana put in another stellar performance and despite leading the league in strikeouts (238) he came up short in the victory column; which curtailed his chance for top pitching honors in the league. Once again, Torii Hunter was awarded a Gold Glove and Joe Nathan and Santana went to the All-Star game while 2,034,243 watched the magic in the Metrodome.
