2000 Minnesota Twins Roster

In the Rule 5 draft, you can pluck a player from an organization for modest amount of cash. The problem with Rule 5 is that the player has to stay with the team all season. Few ever pan out, but the Minnesota Twins had earlier struck gold with Shane Mack (1990-1994) and this pre-season they grabbed a fireballer named Johan Santana from the Houston Astros organization via the Florida Marlins. It was the perfect time for a youngster to learn the game as the Twins were 10th in hitting and 11th in pitching, losing 93 games. 1,059,715 fans wondered if there was ever hope of the team returning to its championship ways. Matt Lawton was the sole All-Star for the the second year and represented the Twins because of rules stating someone had to represent each team.
