1988 Minnesota Twins Roster
The dreams were high for a repeat of 1987 as a major league record 3,030,672 fans filled the Metrodome, waving their homer hankies and cheering on a team that sent five players -- Gary Gaetti, Tim Laudner, Kirby Puckett, Jeff Reardon and Frank Viola to the All-Star festivities. But even 91 wins weren't enough, and the Twins had to settle for the bridesmaid position in the division. Viola started the All-Star game, and was the Cy Young award winner. Allan Anderson led the league with a 2.45 earned-run-average and for the third straight season, Puckett and Gaetti received Gold Glove kudos.
