1967 Minnesota Twins Roster
Sam Mele ended his victorious tenure with the Minnesota Twins on June 9th, being replaced by Cal Ermer. A couple of trades -- Bernie Allen and Camilo Pascual for journeyman reliever Ron Kline and Don Mincher/Jimmie Hall/Pete Cimino for infielder Jackie Hernandez and Dean Chance provided big-time results for the Twins. Chance pitched two no-hitters in 1967 (yes, one was a rain shortened game) and with Harmon Killebrew ending the season tied for the league lead with 44 homers, the Twins battled back in August and came within two games of winning the pennant. The final weekend saw the Twins end their season with two loses to the champion Red Sox, ending up in a tie for second with the Detroit Tigers. 1,483,547 fans saw the emergence of Rod Carew, Rookie of the Year and another Gold Glove for Jim Kaat. Carew, Chance, Oliva and Killebrew were named All-Stars.
